Catholic
Retreat Emphasis
Our retreat
program welcomes couples of all faith traditions to share is
this great mystery of sacramental love.
The traditional purpose of any retreat is to take time out
from our day to day schedules and reflect upon whether or not
our lives are in harmony with who we are and what we sincerely
want from life. A retreat that focuses upon major life
decisions takes on particular importance for each person.
The choice to marry is without question, the most pivotal life
choice we make.
Catholic Retreats for Engaged Couples retreat program provides
an educational and reflective environment in which you as a
couple can further discuss your choice to marry.
Christian Marriage
Ministries
Our mission is to strengthen,
support and enrich the lives of couples who have chosen a
marriage covenant rooted in the faith teaching of Christ and
the church.
For
couples preparing for their Christian vocation of marriage
we offer retreat programs that will allow couples to search
the deeper meaning of their wedding vows, strengthen their
interpersonal skills, and design relationship goals that
will enrich their marriage. This is all accomplished through
reflection upon Christ’s words and actions of love. We serve
both Catholic and Protestant couples in achieving these
goals.
Catholic Retreats for Engaged
Couples Retreat Program
Our
Catholic Retreat program welcomes couples from both Catholic
and mainstream Protestant faith traditions to explore more
deeply the great mystery of sacrificial love. We
wholeheartedly support the memorandum of common teaching
between the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of St. Paul –
Minneapolis and the Metropolitan Evangelical Lutheran Church
of America Synods. We share a rich tradition of
honoring the sacred and holy nature of the marriage
covenant.
The
retreats are designed as an “active time out and away “from
the demands of planning a wedding to the opportunity of
planning your married life together. Our Catholic
emphasis is ecumenical, emphasizing the life giving nature
sacrificial love, the commitment to serving one another in
marriage and the larger Church community, the importance of
prayer in marriage and finally, a respect for life in all
its stages, ages, and places.
Our
engaged couples retreat is also designed to assist couples
to further develop and enhance communication and conflict
management skills so necessary for succeeding in marriage.
Based upon the Prepare / Enrich Couple Inventories developed
by Dr. David Olson and colleagues, we emphasize using couple
strengths to manage relationship differences.
